SUCCESS STORIES

Stephen Bedosky
Update Spring 2007

After graduating from Trinity in 2002, Steve continued his education at Denison University in Granville, Ohio, where he graduated in 2006 with a major in History and Religion, while also competing for the Big Red in football and track. In addition to sports and academics, he worked as a facilities supervisor at the Athletics Center, supervising a staff of 12 student workers. Steve was also inducted into the Theta chapter of Phi Alpha Theta, an honorary society for students of history.

As a freshman and sophomore, Steve saw time on the varsity football field as a back up on punts and place kicks. During his junior and senior years, Steve started as the punter and place-kicker for the football team, which turned in its first winning season since 1986. For the track team, Steve qualified for indoor conference championships in the shot put during his senior year with a put of 43’6.25”, a personal best that also placed in the top 10 in Denison’s history. During the outdoor season, Steve tossed the hammer, placing ninth at the All-Ohio Championships, and sixth at the North Coast Athletic Conference Championships. His throw of 133’9” is a Denison record.

After graduating, Steve returned to Stamford and began working for York International Agency, LLC, an insurance brokerage in Yonkers, NY, first as an intern, and later as an assistant account executive. Currently, he is continuing his training at York, rotating around the various departments while learning the various coverages in commercial, personal, and life insurance.

In the summer of 2006, Steve started as a volunteer assistant for Trinity Catholic High School’s football team, focusing on scouting, special teams, and personnel. During the off-season, Steve took control of the team's strength and conditioning program, and will continue to supervise the team’s training over the summer. In addition to football, Steve has volunteered at National Lione Little League as an assistant coach.

“Coaching has given me a tremendous opportunity to give back to the community. I enjoy working with these student athletes, not only to improve their physical skills, but also to impart the values of teamwork, hustle, effort, and determination. I’ve had many tremendous coaches impact my life through sports, and I can only hope to have a similar impact on the student-athletes I coach.”

During his high school years, Steve was a standout in the class room, where he graduated with high honors, in the community where he volunteered with St. Leo’s youth group in various capacities, and on the fields of competition, where he won numerous awards. He earned all conference honors in football and baseball (where he was also selected as a team captain), while also qualifying for the indoor track championships in the shot put. In the classroom, he earned the Pace Medal for his high marks in accounting, while also earning book grants for service to the school.
